uLab
A shared workspace for aligner cases.
uLab Systems makes clear aligners and uDesign, its treatment planning software. Dental practices use the uLab portal to send patient cases, follow 3D prints and pay invoices in one place. I designed the portal's UX/UI.
The challenge
Many people, one patient case.
An aligner treatment passes through a lot of hands before it reaches the patient. The portal had to keep the practice and the lab in step without turning a busy clinic day into admin work.
One case, many hands.
Doctors, practice staff and uLab's technicians and planners all work on the same case. Each of them needs to see where it stands and what they're waiting on.
Clinical files at the centre.
Every case depends on 3D intraoral scans. The practice uploads them, the lab plans and prints from them, and everyone needs the current version.
Care and billing side by side.
Invoices, payments and saved cards sit next to patient work. Some practices run more than one clinic, and the person paying isn't always the person treating.
The approach
Clear status and one home for every case.
I designed the portal around the questions people ask most: where is this case, what needs me, and what do we owe?

Status comes first.
Cases, prints and invoices lead with where they stand, using the same labels everywhere. A quick look between appointments is enough.

The case page holds everything.
Patient details, treatment progress, plan revisions, scans, invoices and the people a case is shared with all sit on one page.

Trust in money and team actions.
Card numbers stay masked, it's always clear what's due, and changes to people and roles ask for a confirmation where it matters.

Find a case, open it, update its status, share it with a colleague and check the scans in the 3D viewer.
PRINTS AND BILLING
From the printer to the invoice.
Each print moves through clear stages until it ships. Invoices open in a side panel with Pay now, and reports compare what was billed with what was paid.
TEAM AND PRACTICE
Run the practice, not the settings.
Admins invite colleagues and set their roles, keep billing up to date, and switch between practices from the sidebar.
Design language
Calm and clinical.
Rounded white cards on a soft grey canvas keep dense information easy to scan. uLab blue marks actions, the logo green marks progress, and Geist Mono keeps IDs, dates and amounts lined up.
A portal that keeps cases moving.
I designed the UX/UI of the uLab portal for doctors, practice staff and admins. Each of them can find their work in one place and see what comes next.
